Ingredients
  • 1cup cold water
  • 1/3cup red wine
  • 2Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tea bag(use any black tea, such as Earl Grey)
  • 1/2tsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/4tsp garlic powder
  • 1pinch dried herbs(each, to taste: basil, parsley, sage, coriander)
  • 3Tbsp corn starch
Instructions
  1. Combine one cup of water, the red wine and soy sauce in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring the liquid to a soft boil.
  3. Add the tea bag, nutritional yeast, garlic powder and dried herbs.
  4. Reduce the heat and let simmer for 5 to 7 minutes.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and use a spoon to retrieve the tea bag.
  6. Mix the corn starch with 1 Tbsp of cold water in a small bowl, making sure to break any lumps.
  7. Using a whisk or a spoon, mix the gravy while pouring the corn starch solution into the saucepan.
  8. Continue mixing until you have achieved the correct thickness. If the gravy is too thin, mix additional corn starch with cold water and continue adding to the gravy.
Recipe Notes

This recipe does not reheat very well, so avoid the temptation to make a big batch ahead of time.
